Arch and Lovers Beach Kayak and Snorkel Overview
There are many reasons that Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, is one of the globe's most popular tourist destinations. This pleasant seaside town on the southern tip of the extensive Baja Peninsula is ideally situated close to where the deepwater currents of the Pacific Ocean meet with the warmer waters of the Sea of Cortez. Land's End is the furthest point of a peninsula that extends from downtown Cabo San Lucas to divide these two massive bodies of water. On this peninsula, just a few minutes by boat from Cabo's downtown marina, you will discover a number of fantastic natural attractions. As you motor along the rocky shoreline you'll pass the crowded rocky beach where the local Sea Lion Colony is located. Scores of Sea Lions crowd together in a teeming throng that has to be seen to be believed. Next to the Sea Lion Colony is Pelican's Rock, a steep drop off that attracts Scuba Divers. At the southern point of Land's End you'll see the natural formation that has become the iconic symbol for Cabo San Lucas, the Arch. Also called Poseidon's Arch, this granite arc was carved by eons of pounding surf and Pacific wind.
Lover's Beach, located on the Pacific side of the peninsula, is a gorgeous stretch of sugary white sand that is the perfect place to sunbathe, swim, and enjoy the fabulous view of the ocean. From this splendid swath of sand you can depart for a tour in a sea kayak around the rocky shoreline to get a better view of the local sights. You can also swim out to Neptune's Finger to snorkel above a coral reef teeming with exotic aquatic species.
